A Practical Website Launch Checklist for Small Businesses

Start with the customer journey
Before launch, ask someone unfamiliar with your business to find a service, understand what it includes and send an enquiry. Give them no instructions beyond that goal. Watch where they hesitate. Your main pages should explain who you help, what you provide and how a visitor can take the next step. Replace placeholder copy, check opening hours and confirm that your phone number and email address are correct everywhere.
Test enquiries from beginning to end
Submit every contact form using realistic information. Confirm that the enquiry reaches the correct inbox and that the customer sees a clear success message. Try an invalid email address and leave a required field empty to check the error messages. Test phone and messaging links on a mobile device. Assign a team member to receive enquiries and agree who will respond when that person is unavailable.
Review the mobile experience
Open important pages on a small screen. Check that headings fit, buttons are easy to tap and images do not hide essential information. Read a complete service page without zooming. Try the menu, a long form and the footer. If a page feels slow, review oversized images and unnecessary media before adding more visual effects.
Finish the handover
Record who controls the domain, hosting, website administration and recovery email addresses. Keep access details in an appropriate password manager. Ask for a backup and a documented restoration process. Make a short list of launch checks, then repeat the enquiry test after the site is publicly available. A launch is complete when the team can maintain the content and reliably handle the enquiries it receives.
